Which SIM does the Videx GSM4KCR/4G take?
A nano SIM (4FF) — same as the rest of Videx's 4G generation. If you're used to the old 2G GSM4K's full-size SIM, note the change before you're on site. Voice-capable, active, PIN-free.
Which network?
Any UK network with 4G at the gate. The codelock variant usually goes on unmanned sites — farm gates, yards, compounds — which are exactly the places coverage maps flatter. A multi-network SIM registers on the strongest network actually present and follows coverage over time, which suits a panel nobody visits twice a year.
Spend cap on pay-monthly SIMs.
Fitting the SIM
For the installing engineer, power down:
- The SIM holder is on the rear of the 4G GSM module.
- Seat the nano SIM — one way only — and click the holder home.
- Antenna connected before power. Never power a GSM module without its antenna.
First power-up
Give it half a minute to initialise — beeps and the busy LED mark its progress. When it settles, program per the manual (SMS or GSMSK software) and test both paths: a call from the button, and a code entry on the keypad releasing the relay.
If it won't connect
- No registration: SIM in a phone at the gate — is 4G there on that network?
- Codes work, calls don't: the keypad side is local; the call side is the SIM. Check credit, number programming, signal.
- SMS programming ignored: exact syntax, character by character.
