Which SIM does the RTU5024 take?

A standard size SIM (2FF), voice-capable, with the PIN lock removed. The unit works by receiving calls, so data-only SIMs are useless to it. It needs almost no credit — it rejects calls rather than answering them — but the SIM must stay active on the network, so mind the network's inactivity rules on unused PAYG SIMs.

Which network?

The RTU5024 is 2G-only. Your gate needs a network still running 2G at that spot, and those are disappearing. A multi-network SIM gives the unit every remaining compatible network rather than one bet — on a device this dependent on a fading network, that's the difference between years of service and a dead gate.

Fitting the SIM

For the installing engineer, power off:

1. The SIM holder is on the board face. Slide, hinge, seat the SIM, close, slide back.
2. Antenna on before power.
3. Wire the relay to the operator's trigger input — check whether the operator wants a momentary pulse or a latched contact and set the unit's relay mode to match.

First power-up

Let it register (LED behaviour per the manual), then SMS the first admin command to set your password and add the first whitelist number — full international format (44…, not 07…) is the format that always works.

Test: call the unit from a whitelisted phone. It should ring off unanswered and the relay should click.

If it won't open

• Rings and rings, no relay: your number isn't matching the whitelist — re-add in international format.
• Call fails entirely: unit off network. 2G coverage check first, SIM active second.
• Relay clicks, gate ignores it: wiring or pulse/latch mismatch on the operator side.

FAQ

Why does calling it cost nothing? The unit rejects the call before answering. No connection, no charge.

How many users? 200 numbers on standard firmware.

Is there a 4G version? Not of the 5024 itself, but 4G equivalents (G202/G203 class) do the same job on a current network.
