Which SIM does the CAME/BPT MTM GSM take?

A micro SIM (3FF). Not the standard size the older Videx units take, not nano. Registered and active before it goes in the panel — the MTM won't walk you through activation.

Which network?

The MTM GSM is a 2G device, so the question is really: which networks still run 2G at your gate? That list is shrinking, and it varies by area. A multi-network SIM is the practical answer — it registers on whichever compatible network is strongest, and re-registers if that network changes.

Cap the spend on any pay-monthly SIM before it goes live.

Fitting the SIM

For the installing engineer, power off:

1. Open the panel and locate the SIM holder on the GSM module.
2. Seat the micro SIM in the holder — one way only — and lock it.
3. Check the module is seated firmly in the MTM frame while you're in there. A half-seated module produces convincing fake faults.
4. Antenna connected before power-up.

First power-up

Allow the module time to register — the status LED settles when it's on network. Then program at least one call number by SMS and make a test call from the button.

If it won't connect

• Never registers: confirm 2G coverage actually exists at the gate. Test the SIM in an old 2G-capable phone at the panel position.
• Registers then drops: marginal signal. Move the antenna up and away from the panel's own metalwork.
• Commands ignored: PIN lock off, SMS centre number present, command syntax exact.

FAQ

Is the MTM GSM still worth fitting? For an existing stock unit on a site with solid 2G, it'll serve. For new supply, CAME's 4G LTE range is the safer decade.

What happens when 2G is switched off? The panel loses service — it has no 4G hardware. Plan the upgrade before the switch-off reaches your area.

Does CAME supply the SIM? No. Supplied separately, like every GSM intercom.
