    Cellula (Cell Box) SIM installation guide

    The Cellula — sold as the Cell Box in some markets — is BFT's cellular call box: a gate intercom that dials the occupant's phone over the mobile network, with the answering phone's keypad triggering the gate. It slots naturally into BFT-automated entrances, which is why so many of them sit beside Deimos and Phobos operators, but it'll switch anything with a relay input.

    Which SIM does the BFT Cellula take?

    A standard size SIM (2FF) — the full-size card, same as other intercoms of its generation. Registered, active, PIN lock removed before it goes near the panel.

    Which network?

    The Cellula is 2G hardware, so it needs a network still broadcasting 2G at your gate. That's an ever-shorter list, and it differs by area. A multi-network SIM is the pragmatic choice: the unit registers on whichever compatible network is strongest, and if that network sunsets its 2G locally, the SIM hunts for the next one rather than going silent.

    Fitting the SIM

    For the installing engineer, power down:

    1. Open the unit; the SIM holder is on the main board.
    2. Fit the standard SIM — one orientation — and secure the holder.
    3. Antenna connected before power, mounted high and away from the gate's metalwork.

    First power-up

    Allow the module to register on network, then program the first number by SMS per the manual. Test the full sequence: call button, answer, keypad trigger, relay, gate.

    If it won't connect

    • No registration: confirm 2G coverage exists at the gate — test the SIM in an old phone at the panel position. If there's no 2G there any more, no SIM will fix it.
    • Registers, drops calls: marginal signal. Antenna higher, or high-gain.
    • Programming texts ignored: SMS centre number on the SIM, and exact command syntax.

    FAQ

    Is the Cellula still viable? On sites with solid 2G, yes, for now. Its clock is tied to the 2G switch-off in your area.

    What replaces it? BFT's 4G cellular intercom generation — same job, current network.

    Does BFT supply the SIM? No. Sourced separately, sized standard (2FF).
